Shadow of the Tomb Raider Game

In this installment of the Tomb Raider franchise, we see the final chapter of the 2013 trilogy that shares the backstory of how Lara Croft transitioned into the tomb raider that we met almost 20 years ago. The game sets you up in some of the most challenging and visually stunning environments where you have to become resourceful to the area around you to survive.

Offering a large supply of side quests and NPC interactions, the game offers you a little over 25 hours of gameplay and does not disappoint.

The game continues the rivalry between Lara and The Trinity, an evil organization bent on destroying the world. It picks off with Lara stealing an ancient cursed knife which heralds a tsunami that destroys a large section of Mexico.

After that you follow Lara into Peru, where you are set up in a forest where you can search for tombs, crypts, and secret locations that all offer amazing graphics and challenging puzzle games.

The jungle also offers extended underwater pursuits that bring the games design into the highlight with amazing immersive scenes that are sure to wow you.

While exploring the forest you will encounter a variety of enemies to battle using not just your handy weapon, but also the environment around you.

It is during your jungle explorations that you will find a small, ancient city called Paititi. This is where most of the game takes place as you explore around the city, speak to local citizens, and progress along the main story line of the battle against The Trinity.

The city offers you a large open world map to explore that is packed with hidden collectibles and small side quests. These side quests somewhat lack the writing creativity of the main story line but are still relatively good enough for you to enjoy doing them.

Key Features

Shadow of the Tomb Raider offers you all the normal features that you would expect from a game in the franchise. It adds to it an array of challenging new puzzle quests that will test you to your limits in a fun and enjoyable way. There are also unique new features that add a level of depth to the game. Some of these include:

  • Three large location environments to explore;
  • Citizen side quests where you help out the local residents in the town to complete tasks that they set you;
  • Fantastic cut scenes that progress the story with immersive writing.

One of the biggest key features that stand out in Shadow of the Tomb Raider is the interaction between NPC’s and Lara Croft. There are tones of NPC’s that you can approach and engage in conversation when you want a break from exploring or running around.

Each interaction is well written and further cements the morality of Lara that is the undertone of the main story. They offer a unique twist to NPC interactions and often leave you wanting to look for more people to speak to before you continue with the main storyline.
