FACEIT runs its own anti-cheat – FAC, or FACEIT Anti-Cheat – completely separately from Valve’s VAC system. Both can ban the same account. A VAC ban on Steam can automatically chain-ban a linked FACEIT profile without any additional review. And the two appeal routes go to two different companies, with different evidence requirements, different timelines, and no coordination between them.
That’s what makes a FACEIT ban appeal different from almost every other platform. Getting unbanned from FACEIT isn’t just about writing a good ticket – it’s about knowing which system flagged the account and making sure the appeal goes to the right place. Sending a FAC appeal to Valve or a VAC appeal to FACEIT doesn’t get forwarded. It just disappears.
FAC Ban or VAC Ban – How to Tell Which One You’re Dealing With
The clearest signal is where the ban notice came from.
A FAC ban comes from FACEIT directly – you’ll see it in the FACEIT client or receive a notification through FACEIT’s system. This means FACEIT Anti-Cheat flagged something on the machine or detected behavior on their platform. The appeal goes to FACEIT Support.
A VAC ban comes from Valve and shows up on the Steam profile as a “VAC ban on record.” Because FACEIT links to Steam, a VAC ban automatically restricts the linked FACEIT account too. The VAC ban itself has to be appealed through Steam Support – FACEIT can’t lift a Valve-issued restriction, and FACEIT Support will tell you exactly that if you try.
Some players end up with both simultaneously – a FAC flag and a VAC ban on the same account. In that case, both need to be appealed separately, in parallel. Clearing one doesn’t automatically clear the other.
If the Steam profile shows no VAC ban and the restriction is only visible inside FACEIT, that’s a FAC-only case and the appeal stays entirely within FACEIT Support.

Get Unbanned!Appealing a FACEIT Ban – What Reviewers Need
FACEIT Anti-Cheat runs at the kernel level, similar to Vanguard or EAC. It monitors processes, driver signatures, and input patterns from the moment it’s active. False positives happen – unsigned drivers, custom mouse firmware, certain peripheral software, and VPN hops have all triggered integrity flags – and FACEIT’s review team can overturn them, but only with specific technical documentation.
The core of a FAC false positive appeal is the FACEIT client log – specifically Client.log, zipped and attached. Pair it with the AC version number (visible in the bottom-left of the client), the matchmaking ID and timestamp for the flagged session, and a full list of everything that was running at the time. Peripheral software configurations matter here specifically – macro profiles, RGB controllers, overclock helpers – because FACEIT treats any automated input as a violation regardless of intent. If it was running, list it. If it’s been uninstalled, mention that too.
A few things worth doing before pulling the logs: run the FACEIT client once after a clean reboot to refresh the AC hashes, and sync the system clock first. A drifted OS timestamp muddles log comparisons on the reviewer’s end and can make legitimate logs look inconsistent.
HWID bans have become more common on FACEIT through 2025 – a new Steam account on a hardware-flagged machine gets restricted within minutes. If the account was HWID-flagged alongside the profile ban, the appeal needs to address the hardware component specifically, not just the account. A new account isn’t a workaround here.
What a Chain Ban Situation Looks Like – and How to Handle It
The chain ban scenario is worth understanding before submitting anything. When Steam issues a VAC ban, FACEIT’s system detects it through the linked account and restricts the FACEIT profile automatically. This happens without a separate FAC review – it’s triggered by the Steam flag alone.
In this situation, the FACEIT restriction won’t lift until the VAC ban is resolved. Appealing to FACEIT first is understandable but won’t produce a result – their support will confirm they can’t action a VAC-triggered restriction and redirect to Steam Support. Starting with the VAC appeal at Valve is the right order of operations.
Once the VAC ban is addressed – either overturned or confirmed – the FACEIT status updates accordingly. If the VAC ban is confirmed and stays, the FACEIT account remains restricted.
The Technical Details That Make or Break a FACEIT Ban Appeal
FACEIT’s reviewers don’t just read the appeal – they cross-reference it against the client logs. That means small technical oversights matter more here than on most platforms.
System clock sync. A drifted OS timestamp creates inconsistencies between the client log and FACEIT’s server-side data. If the timestamps don’t align, a legitimate log can look manipulated. Sync the system clock before pulling any files.
AC version number. The anti-cheat version visible in the bottom-left of the FACEIT client needs to be in the ticket. Reviewers use it to check whether the flag came from a known false positive signature in a specific build – something that’s more common than most players realize during the weeks after a FAC update.
Running the client after a clean reboot before capturing logs. This refreshes the AC hashes. Logs pulled from a session that ran through sleep mode or a dirty restart sometimes show integrity anomalies that aren’t actually there.
Peripheral software is more relevant here than anywhere else. FACEIT treats automated input as a violation regardless of intent – a recoil script on a gaming mouse firmware counts the same as a third-party cheat tool. If any peripheral software was running, the profile configs need to be in the ticket. Not mentioning something that shows up in the client log is harder to explain than just disclosing it upfront.
